I love Pittsburgh. I didn’t always love Pittsburgh but I’m freaking in love now. I’m also in love with a pretty spectacular photographer. And with a prompt like “skyline” with amazing photos of Pittsburgh and other skylines at my finger tips, I can’t show my own work on this one. A man after my own heart, when he’s not shooting weddings and families, he loves to shoot the sky – perfect! These are just a few of my Pittsburgh favorites.
Last week I switched to a four day schedule at my full time job at PGC. For my first weekday day off, I had meetings and appointments scheduled out the wazoo so it didn’t feel real. Tomorrow is my first day where I will be attempting to achieve all that I intended with this new schedule: working on the photography business, making plans for this blog, and organizing some things around the house. The thing is, lots of times when I don’t leave the house during the day, I just sleep in, don’t change out of my PJs and don’t […]
Remember those sweet loving pups I shared photos of yesterday? They are cuddle muffins and kiss mongers most of the time, but sometimes… they are killers. Together they make short work of any stuffed creature that comes into their grasp. When I warned the family that watches them while we are away that they should hide any toys that their dog particularly loves, the mom said, “oh no way, we love it when Porter and Jeanie come over to weed out the weak ones in the herd.” They always live up to expectations. Recently, friends visited and brought these lanky […]
Today was a long and wonderful day celebrating Nathan’s nephew Ian’s dedication and his father’s 65th birthday. I was good with respect to my food sensitivities and therefore my body and did not partake in the delicious beer featured atop this post. In exchange for that goodness, however, I ate a piece of cake, which is arguably worse with it’s perfect storm of gluten, dairy AND sugar. I got an almost instant headache and my stomach let me know it was not pleased. I had high hopes for how I might muse upon the word love today, as it is […]
Football season is on its way and I am a huge Steeler fan. Sundays in the fall are reserved for sitting on the couch with the rest of Pittsburgh, cuddling with the pups and cheering on our awesome team. Porter, our Boston Terrier/Pug mix has a black and golden brindle so we call him our Steeler dog, among other delightful nicknames. He was not altogether thrilled with this photo op- he prefers to chew the Terrible Towel rather than wear it.
I’m a fiend for patterns so there was a part of me that thought the prompt “circles” would be easy to just look around and find a cool dotted pattern in my wardrobe or on the walls in my house. I was surprised to find that was not the case! Where I did find circles was at work. In addition to co-owning a business, and now writing this blog, I work at Pittsburgh Glass Center (PGC) as the Marketing Associate. It’s a silly title really. My boss and I joked just last week that it almost doesn’t mean anything. But […]
Let’s get one thing straight. I am not a photographer. Yes, I co-own a photography business and yes, I’ve been known to snap a photo or two, but a photographer I am not. The photos appearing in my previous posts- those were taken by photographers. The photos that will appear in this August Break challenge, will be taken by me. I’m going to try my best and certainly work towards improving over the course of the month! So on to the point, the first prompt is breakfast. Let me tell you, as someone who went through years, YEARS of her […]
I am generally pretty good at getting things done once I start them. So that would lead one to believe that after starting my blog, that which comes after starting, *ahem* continuing would come pretty easily. And who knows? I’m not unequivocally saying it wouldn’t- it’s been less than a week. But, as I briefly mentioned in this here Q&A, I have to work to do good things for myself. And since I started the blog to write because I enjoy writing, well – it counts. I don’t know if my long term plan is to blog daily, weekly, monthly […]
The first time I conceived of starting a blog was about two years ago after attending my first Pod Camp Pittsburgh. One particular presenter whose name escapes me spoke passionately about how he turned compulsion for record collection into a vibrant blog. I don’t recall why or how by this set off a spark in my mind about all the things I’m interested in and could potentially enjoy writing about. I hmmm’d and haaa’d for months going back and forth with myself about what I’d write. I contemplated anonymity so I could say wretched things without retribution but decided I […]
