I turned 33 the other day…

My 33rd birthday passed without much fanfare, just as I would prefer. I didn’t accomplish many of the things I set out in my 33 before 33 list of goals. But I’ve come to realize that while goals are good, there needs to be room for them to evolve and change. And an arbitrary schedule for goals may not be all that useful. Breaking Up with Bullshit

I’ve been dabbling with digital detox for the last few months. I deleted the Facebook app off my phone before going on a vacation and then just left it off. I also installed a Chrome extension called News Feed Eradicator on my work computer that replaces the feed with an inspirational quote. The inspiration is questionable as the seemingly small pool of quotes started repeating after about a week. Sixty-One

It was sixty-one years ago today that my mother was born the eldest daughter of my grandparents. It was about eighteen months ago today, that my grandmother passed away and subsequently, my mother decided she no longer wanted to have a relationship with me, her eldest daughter. (It is important to note that she would not claim ownership of that decision.) After a nearly thirty year long tumultuous and tense relationship, I can’t say that my mother’s refusal to communicate with me was terribly disappointing.
